The Netherlands Network is delighted to invite you to their next Dutch Business Breakfast meeting, held on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 in San Francisco. We are proud to have Joaquin Alvarado from The Institute for Next Generation Internet, San Francisco State University, as the guest speaker. Joaquin will share with us the developments of the Next Generation Internet and the Institute’s Global Project for Sustainable Economic Development.
After the breakfast there will be an opportunity for those interested to take a look at the INGI lab and get a demonstration from Michael Mages, Director of Digital Sister Cities Technology LAB and Barrett Fox, Director of Brainstormer Project, of the applications they are developing including: Brainstorming: Real Time Collaboration Gaming Program; Sebastian: Real Time Media Production Application; and Damien: the Browser for the Next Generation Internet.
No other communication technology has developed more rapidly or dynamically than the first generation of the Internet. In less than a decade it has assumed a central role in many of the critical functions of our society and interactions with the global community. The Internet has become a media platform capable of producing radical transformations in production, collaboration, and distribution. It has also proven capable of reinforcing inequities within our society. In many ways it has raised as many new questions as it has new ideas. The opportunity to advance these ideas and answer these questions is before us as we build the Next Generation Internet. Communication technology will continue to converge in ways that have major implications in education, government, and economic development
The Institute for Next Generation Internet at San Francisco State University was founded in 2005 to provide leadership in the evolution of Next Generation Internet focusing on issues of public policy, industry collaboration, research and development, and community engagement. INGI has produced a unique partnership of educational institutions, government agencies, major corporations, small businesses, and community-based organizations. INGI is an incubator and accelerator for Next Generation Internet applications. INGI delivers the communication and digital technologies that are needed for enabling education in the knowledge economy. To this end, INGI breaks down barriers to digital literacy for underserved communities.
The Dutch Business Breakfast will be opened at 07:30 AM by the Honorary Consul of the Netherlands, Douglas Engmann
